State
Advocacy Conference
September 19, 2008- State Capitol
It is important for PTA leaders and members to build a year-long
working relationship with state and local legislators and to understand
both the issues impacting children and how education is funded in
Georgia. At the State Advocacy Conference, hosted annually by Georgia
PTA, learn to be more effective advocates for children while participating
in establishing the Georgia PTA legislative platform. Learn

PTA
Day at the Capitol
February 24, 2009 - State Capitol
This annual event is held in February when the state legislature
is in session. PTA Day at the Capitol provides PTA leaders, members
and supporters an opportunity to become more familiar with the legislative
process and to actively speak with legislators about education and
children’s issues. Develop and put your advocacy skills to
work under the Gold Dome and over lunch with your state legislators.
Bring a van full of PTA members – all wearing red –
and let your voice for children be seen and heard.
Georgia
PTA Convention/Leadership
Training (CLT)
July 10-11, 2009 - Georgia International Convention Center
Georgia PTA encourages members to attend the annual Convention/Leadership
Training. Delegates
participate in workshops and general sessions, vote on officers
for the state PTA (biannually), network, and celebrate the accomplishments
of PTAs from around Georgia. We strongly encourage each unit and
council to send delegates every year.
A wide variety of workshops are offered for both new and veteran
PTA leaders. At CLT you will receive resource guides, membership
cards and other valuable resources, plus have the opportunity to
visit an extensive exhibit hall and network with PTA leaders from
around the state.
