39th PTA Day at the Capitol

39th PTA Day at the Capitol

WE ARE RALLYING THE TROOPS FOR A HISTORICAL DAY

TO MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD

For over 100 years, the PTA has been the voice for those who were too young to speak for themselves and for those that were ignored.

After a thorough discussion with Tyler Barr about our 39th annual PTA Day at the Capitol celebration, we made a slight adjustment to the PTA Day program. The decision was made to mirror an action made by our PTA founders.  Our founders advocated for a strong public school system through the universal kindergarten program. They also fought off threats to our children by eliminating child labor laws. Their advocacy efforts helped to provide support to other PTA members who wanted to speak up with a powerful voice.

We are rallying the troops, both young and old, to come and stand with our State President Rita Erves as we dress in Red to Rally for the Legislative Hot Topics as deemed by you, the members of PTA and our Legislative Team.

However, before our march to the Capitol, we will hear a presentation on Common Core from Dr. Dana Rickman, Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education.  We are so excited about having our National PTA Legislative Chair, Stella Edwards, at this event to give us many helpful tips on how to advocate effectively.  This dynamic duo will provide the resources and training that will strengthen our powerful voice on behalf of “every child!”
